Newbery Zeus
« on: March 22, 2021, 02:35:40 PM »

hello all,

hope you are well,

I wanted to share something I picked up on a whim yesterday from Facebook Marketplace and wanted to see if anyone had any information on this bat, for example how old it might be or who might have made it.

I can't find much about this model apart from a thread that links back to here from 2016 so it's a bit of mystery to me.

The story from the guy who made it was that it's been sitting for as long as he can remember in storage, essentially hasn't been used and was given to him by a former Sussex Player

It has GF stamped on the shoulder

Few pictures:

Definitely has a decent middle so I'm going to work on it

Any information would be greatly appreciated

I'd guess around 2000. It's hard to precisely date as Newbery kept their stickers broadly the same up until about 2009 with only some minor differences, the SPS/Players models got introduced around 2005 so this is pre-that.

The Keeley brothers ran Newbery at that point, so quite probably made by them – particularly considering it looks to be a very top grade. Newbery or Keeley may be able to date it more precisely based on the stamping.
