2021 County Championship...
« on: April 08, 2021, 02:11:36 PM »

First day of the new CC season, and not one comment about it. On a cricket forum! I guess that tells you all about the quality and regard it is held in these days.

Anyway, most of the England white kit chaps are playing.

Sam Robson has scored a century - England recall beckons........

Vince absolutely cruising towards a ton at a 118 strike rate!! If only he had worked as a test player....

Burns 4, Crawley 14, Pope 27, Foakes 26, Lawrence 46.

I mean, if the quality was that poor...?

You just know he’s going to get a truckload of runs in the CC, get selected for England this summer, then make a very pretty 20 before holing out to cover playing a brainfart  shot, and being ripped to shreds by every single cricket commentator out there.

I'd love to see the guy succeed at test level but yeah...

Do wonder if Robson could put himself in the frame for a recall if Burns' has a real stinker.

Did he ever get a 2nd bite? I know all the other tried and failed openers did, but I can’t recall Robson coming back in to the England fold and failing again.

Burns has been found out at international level - if he plays for England again it will be an admission that the cupboard is bare.

Had the Yorkshire Glamorgan stream on in the background today as WFH.
Quality of commentary audio has been dreadful unfortunately.

Bet the Root boys have had some banter out there in the freezing cold though

Don't remember him getting a second crack, didn't they move straight on to about 6 other possible partners for Cook?

Burns is a strange one, he looks really solid for stretches and then his technique just seems to fail. Suppose it's a consequence of such a complicated technique that there are so many things that need to be bang on for it to work.

Don't think it's particularly fair to judge them on today's conditions, don't think anyone would want to bat tbh

We've been pretty poor, but some useful runs from Overton at #8 aren't bad.

Yep. Dropped for Lyth. Then we had  Hameed, Jennings, Stoneman, with another chance for ZZZ Compton in there too.

Worse candidates out there to replace Burns if his slump continues.
