Only took 3 games to play a genuinely unpleasant team this year. Why a middle aged man feels the need to pick fights with an umpire about a low level amateur game of cricket I will never know.
We managed to go until our 7th game when in the closing stages for some reason 4 blokes who had been sitting in the sun all day drinking but one in particular decided to start calling half our side the worst C word you can use, abuse our oldest player who has tennis elbow and shoulder issues but helped us out as 4 of our first team were at a wedding yesterday. Ruined a great game of cricket.
We bowled first and bowled top of our league out for 172, first time they have been bowled out all season and this was with 3 overs from the 39 we bowled to the, going for 45 runs and of the 4 missing two are front line bowlers with another out injured.
In reply we started well, I opened for first time this year and anchored innings before being given one of the worst LBW decisions of my life, 2 steps done the track and actual lay middle back to the bowler, single appeal from backward point and umpire raises the finger, lower order scored a few, plus myself and we fell 7 runs short in the end.
