Played in the best game of cricket I’ve been involved in yesterday where we won by 1 run.

Personally went in at 4 after 25 overs after a steady start and hit a close to run a ball 40* to bring us up to 180 off our 40 overs.

We then started well with the ball and had them 30-off for 3. Personally took a diving catch at first slip. I’ve fielded there for 2 seasons for our Sunday team and that’s the first chance I’ve ever had! Over the next 30 overs the game constantly swung back and forth. At one point they needed 4 an over with 6 wickets in hand. We then bowled a very tight 7/8 over spell to make the rate jump to 5.5 taking a few wickets in the mean time.

I thought we’d lost it when their number 9 slogged 3 sixes to the short boundary off one over. He then blocked out a maiden trying to get himself back on strike for the last over but we were bang on it in the field and managed to get their number 11 on strike for the last over with 2 needed. Our skipper then bowled him with his second ball to give us the narrowest of victories.

On reflection the best game I’ve ever played in, just a shame all I’ll remember yesterday for is the football 🙁

Must have been a good game 👍
I took a skyer yesterday 😃

Sunday's game bowling figures are 5-1-5-3, that included a chance of a bat trick, which was missed off stumps by a couple of mm🙂
Took a skyer running from straight mid wicket to backward suare leg.
I'm sure that is the highest catch I've taken.
It was a junior who sweeped slow leg spinner, can't believe that the ball could go that high!

Saturday, I sent to bat at 9, score 50 for 7 with 20.1 overs gone, I was eventually out, trying to up run, score 95-8, still 5 overs to bat.
That delivery was at the middle stump, went for safe shot, straight over the bowler... But the mask had extra bounce plus it it left me.. Edged to the keeper. We managed 132 for 9 in 45 over, which looked very decent.
I came to bowl first change, had figures of 9-3-16-2, trust me these figures don't do justice to my bowling!
There were some umpiring issues.
We lost that crucial game by 3 wickets!

Personal circumstances at home, coupled with some unfortunately timed bad weather has hampered my season.

Sunday was only my 4th weekend game, only batted twice previously and haven't been able to get to many nets.

Very happy with getting 41, went in on 13/3 with another of our batsmen having retired with a knee injury. We managed to get to 130 which ended up being a defendable score. Difficult wicket to bat on, only 190 runs scored in the game for 20 wickets. I'm just a bit gutted that i can't now play the next two weekends

The life of a #8/#9 sucks if you want a bat in T20s when your openers are making 100 run partnerships. As a clubmember fantastic to watch though.
I've been enjoying my fielding more and more. Need some quicker reaction time though.

Had quite an interesting day. Car got a puncture on the way to the ground so had to make the last mile on foot.

Skipper loss the toss and we got put into the field. I usually love the hot weather but was really feeling it this afternoon and opposition closed on around 140ish for 9. I finished with 3-20 off 10 which I would have taken if offered but had quite a few chances put down. Someone took me back to my car to get my kit and returned hoping to have an hour or so relaxing but found myself batting (in at No.9) before the first drinks break (15 overs). Being still over 100 off and effectively last man (someone had gone home ill and final batsman can't bat), I decided to treat as a bit of net and work on a few things. Unfortunately the heat finally did for me but lasted to the 30th over and even faced a few deliveries from a young lad who managed to wobble the ball in the air. Not sure if it wasn't an optical illusion but weird all the same.

Anyhow finally got back to the car and ended up having to change the wheel myself despite being a member of the RAC. Their app continually crashed so tried phoning and was on-hold for well over 20 mins before the line went dead. Within the RAC membership, I have actually paid for replacement tyres but tried calling again when I got home and still nobody picked up.

T20s with no retirement are a rubbish game for amateurs.

Didn't play, still out injured and likely to be retiring for a few years, especially with another mini me due at in September but though I'd share our 3rd XI game, where the opposition seemingly had a half-decent player.  Was dropped about 5 times by all accounts but some decent hitting, that's for sure.

Bowled my best spell for ages on Saturday. Net result 0-17 off 8. 3 drops and a couple of questionable LBW decisions. Ho hum.

Ah those were League matches, so retirements etc are not in scope if you want to go for the win and get the points for the table.

You mean games where people are not playing at an appropriate level to be challenged.

Right, retirements at 25 or 30 need to be written into the league  rules, really. Makes for a much better game.

Works well for juniors so why not.
