Spinning finger cuts. Help!
« on: April 25, 2021, 07:06:02 PM »

Does anyone have any advice on how to heal cut fingers from off spin bowling? At the start of every season I suffer from bad cuts due to practice and on my first friendly of 2021 my spinning finger fell apart in my second over. Proper raw wound with a big chunk taken out of the skin. I tried bowling through the third over but after some big wides and a head high full toss had to call it quits. Any advice on speeding up the healing process or hardening up my fingers would be appreciated as it is a real drag.

Try surgical spirit to harden up your hands

You need to piss on your fingers

Occasional off spinner here. I’ve found really tight medical sticky plaster tape has helped protect the skin on my fingers. Some people at my club also suggested not gripping the ball as hard - that might not be something you can do if it sacrifices spin! Bowled some overs in a match today and have a little bit of cutting as it’s early season still.

I thought I was holding to ball tight.
To turn or to flight, I hold it loose.
Never had any issue with finger cuts, and that's after continuous bowling.
