I kinda think Hales despite appearing a muppet does deserve another chance, he’s made mistakes same as a few others.
If he can’t get in now he’s never going to agree with that.
I wonder if his relationship with Stokes cooled right off after Bristol

What issues does the board have with Alex Hales?? A talented player is just being wasted. Shame!

I would say the main person with issues is Morgan. His call and nobody else's from what I can tell

Cannot believe Hain didn't make it, and it's ridiculous that Hales didn't either.

ECB are clueless. Perfect opportunity to pick Hales. Also, if they hadn’t dragged Banton away from Somerset in order to carry drinks they would have had an in-form opener.

Giles, Silverwood and co are so far out of their depth, and Morgan doesn’t help by being so stubborn.

It's a full circle of the KP situation. Trust and team culture has been broken. But that cannot be forever, if they won't meet with him how can he apologise and get another chance? Hales done himself in,  and has not been in court despite sailing close to the line.
There are others who have done worse is what I'm trying to say.

You mean he should have been a reserve, but not actually a reserve?

He should have been either selected outright or left in county cricket. Mucking him about as the fill in for Roy has meant he missed this opportunity.

As the fill-in for Roy.

So on the call ups it is worth mentioning that the ECB have tried to be even handed on the counties and not take too many from one.

If you look at the likely top order, a combo of
Jacks
Duckett
Vince
Malan
Stokes
Plus Crawley and Lawrence, who have international experience and are known to the management, to bring in Hain to sit on the bench (his isn't going to take Malan's role) isn't worth it.

I'd have pushed Malan up a spot and Hain at 4 but can see the sense in that line up. Just a disappointing squad IMO.
