M&H Bespoke Bat Experience
« on: September 07, 2021, 10:38:56 AM »

So, yesterday I hit the big 40 mark, years not runs...sadly getting to that score has been rare this season!

I hadn't asked for or expected much in the way of gifts from friends or family so was somewhat taken aback to receive a pre booked M&H Bespoke Bat Experience!

Now I wouldn't have ever paid for this myself because the cost always seemed pretty insane considering what else is available out there but having not had to stump up for it myself I'm now looking forward to a trip down to Taunton on Friday morning  :)

Has anyone here ever been for this experience?
I know there has been a lot of speculation on where M&H bats are actually made in the past so it will be interesting to see just how bespoke the offering is and what stages of bat making I get to witness on the day.

Their grading system seems a bit quirky and the details I have received don't specify what grade of willow I will be able to select from. Hoping it is a totally free choice but we shall see.

If anyone has any tips on what I should expect or request all suggestions welcome.
Equally if people have questions they would like answering I'm happy to fire them at the guys there and see what answers they give.

Two things, firstly happy birthday.
Secondly, photos, regardless of anything else we want lots of photos from your visit please.

Frankly otherwise it didn't happen.

Have a great day and enjoy the experience.....my (cough) 50th next year so will drop some hints for something similar - really keen to hear all about it and maybe unlock some of the mysteries of the M&H world!

Enjoy the experience first and foremost and thanks for sharing , keen to hear and see more about it for sure.

Be interesting to see how much of the bat has already been made, if you are leaving with the finished article on the day.

I have used a number of M&H bats most of which were purchased off the shelf in Taunton. Whilst yes some of their marketing and pricing is galling, in my experience and compared with others at the top end of things, the bats perform.

I’d be interested to hear how the day goes, M and H and Newbery i prided myself on owning as a teenager and considered them the best you could get. The Original still being one of the best bats I have ever used.
Likewise nowadays I see no reason to have a custom made bat, I would never use M and H now as they have been unclear in the past about how much of the bat is handmade and where they are made.

Their prices are obscene as well for the general club cricketer.

However, they are very successful and clearly have a good business model.Perhaps they worked out who they wanted to appeal to and stuck to it.

Hope the day is enjoyable. :)

They also have some nice bags (especially their top line wheelie bag) - in case you needed/wanted one
