I think, like most manufacturers, there's hotspots around their location and it gets thinner the further out you go.

I see plenty but I play in Leicestershire, and up until this season had been playing in Derbyshire. And Nottinghamshire before that. Therefore, I also see a lot of Aldred and some Charlie French.

But when I played a few seasons in East Anglia I don't remember seeing as many (could be my memory though), but did see a lot of Warsop and yet haven't seen any Warsop in the East Midlands since. Appreciate Warsop is on another level to GM, but just an example.

It's one of the biggest benefits of this site to be honest, being made aware of brands outside of what I am normally exposed to.

Exactly this, you'll find most areas have a favoured brand - obviously the real big boys (GM/GN/SS etc) will have national coverage, but a lot of the smaller brands have their own 'territory' so to speak. Ultimately there's still a good portion of the market that won't buy a bat without picking it up first which is where the 'territories' come into play.

They have to take weight out somehere, not as much in the spine wood wise

But can’t have everything I suppose

I like GM, out of interest I wonder how big they are in sales globally versus Ss and SG ?

When I first started watching cricket, GM had a reasonable presence outside the UK. I can recall off the top of my head the Waughs, Shane Warne, Stephen Fleming, Sherwin Campbell, Justin Langer, Jonty Rhodes, Herschelle Gibbs, Graeme Smith and Mark Boucher using their bats. Now they seem to have a very limited overseas presence.

I imagine the growth and budgets of the Indian brands has largely ruled out UK companies from the overseas sponsorship market. As far as I can see, the Indian market is now a fairly dominant force even in signing up players representing England

GN does sponsor 3 Pakistanis now but they will be on Great value contracts versus Indians and Aussie players and uk players

Cheap for Gn anyway versus others in market

Cannot imagine Babar Azam and Rizwan are on anywhere near money Of a root or other names who are similar performers

Rizwan is number 1 and smashes every game in t20

Babar is a pretty huge name in global cricket, he's not going to be on pennies in the pound compared to Root.

I think there was some Intel on his initial contract

I can’t remember if it was performance linked

He’s prob renegotiated since as all those 3 are performers and marquee players

GM do have bats in the Indian market but barely any. SS/SG just so dominant over there.

I presumed gM Morphed into a bigger business under unicorn

And bats is just one business for unicorn now which also own Gm

However happy to be corrected
