Clubhouse Renovations - What to consider
« on: October 06, 2021, 11:05:32 AM »

Hi community!

As this is the forum with probably the most concentrated cricket knowledge I know, I'll put my questions regarding clubhouse renovations and suggestions here.
I'm involved with operators of Austrias busiest Cricket ground and our clubhouse is basically a collection of containers put in place about 21-22 years ago. The clubhouse hosts Home/Away changing rooms, toilets, a small storage room and roofs a "social" area where basically everyone is when there are matches and it rains.

My idea now is to detatch the changing areas from the clubhouse as those were closed down during covid anyway. I want to get baseball style, although not submerged, dugouts where players of Home and Away teams can leave their stuff + get changed.
Toilets are connected to a septic tank so maybe getting a pissoir of sorts would be good idea.

What are your experiences with clubhouses. What are some of the must haves and can haves if the club mainly hosts league games and friendlies but no social events are held as the ground is just a tad bit too far off Vienna and public transport.
The ground in question is: https://goo.gl/maps/sw31dt738z378VuL7

I think what Covid has shown up for a few clubs in our league is the lack of outdoor shelter from the rain. Not a must have but if you're doing a major project might be worth considering building something along those lines.

I've been thinking towards carports as an alternative to Pavillions for teams:
Even with a height of 2,2m and some 15qm those structures could provide more than enough protection from both sun and rain.

This coupled with the container changing rooms/toilets is a pretty good idea in my opinion, should be relatively inexpensive and provides the necessary cover you'd need - easy enough to construct yourselves as a team too
