Salix vs keeley
« on: October 31, 2021, 04:54:50 PM »

Any one tried salix and keeley? What are your thoughts on the bats, quality of pressing, profiles and how you got on with them out in the middle. Which did you prefer and why. Would be good to hear thoughts on those who have used both but also your experience if you have just tried one or the other.

Two of the finest bat makers around.
Both make wonderful bats.

Pop a Salix handle into a very well pressed Keeley and you have perfection!

But as @Buzz says can’t go wrong with either. Both pressed very well and consistently Good.

What are salix handles like?

Generally thicker and more oval.

This ^^.
Keeley handles are very slim/ flexi/ whippy and are not to everyones taste. If you are ok with that then the press and performance is 10/10.
The Salix bats are very elegant but high performers, never seen a bad one, boundaries fly off them!
Do what everyone else here does and get both lol. Otherwise if you really can't decide... I'd suggest a Kippax sancta grail , which is somewhere in between.

Salix edge it for me due to the handles, pressing both are spot on

Kelley for has slightly better branding at present but salix softs every day, cant really go wrong within either

Even if there is a reduction in performance (generally saying, not saying Salix has any less performance than keeley), I would always go for one that has a better (read thicker and oval) handle at same weight. Happy to sacrifice some edge thickness to get better handle as it makes the bat feel so much better.

Keep preaching this. This is the correct answer.

I’ve just sent all my bats(keeley made) off to salix for a rehandle, makes all the difference having a better handle

Keeley handles are generally thin because the shoulders are thin.

A thicker handle won't solve this, and in fact might make things worse (in terms of potential risk of shoulder damage)

Isn't rehandling with thicker handle same as adding more grips? Would adding more grips also have same risk of shoulder damage then?
