Salix bat fittings
« on: January 19, 2022, 10:46:20 PM »

Has anyone been to Salix for a bat fitting recently? On paper sounds like it'd be a dream day out but it'd be good to hear people's experiences (and, of course, see any pictures!)

Not recently but it’s a great day out, you see the process form start to finish, pick through any Number of clefts and talk to and with some of the best bat makers in the business, Kember is of course the man main but Ian and Hugh have been at Salix since the start and what they don’t know between them juat isn’t worth knowing.

I very much doubt you will regret getting a Salix

Do salix make modern profiles or are they just light, traditional profiles?

You can ask them on Instagram or check their pictures - https://www.instagram.com/salixbats/

If you're just curious and not even gonna buy or have the intention of buying though, please don't bother manufacturers/retailers. It's a waste of their time and resources - they're trying to make a living.

Salix do things their way, and have opted for a balance between modern and traditional, if you were just curious. Kember is one of a few batmakers that you can call a Master.

Thanks for the info - it does sound like a dream day to be honest so I think it'll be worth the drive.

It seems they open up on Saturday mornings 9-12am as a "free-for-all" from March onwards, otherwise it's by appointment only on Tuesdays. Don't know if it was the same when you went, but debating whether it's worth booking a half day off work for a probably quieter Tuesday fitting?

To me Salix are the top of the tree. My mate had one for refurbishment. Lovely rounded face, not massive but just seems another level to off the shelf stuff.

I would certainly take the Tuesday option as opposed to the free for all Sat mate

Yeah sounds it’d be the better option, just got to juggle the annual leave around to make sure it fits. Thanks for the help - I’ll be sure to report back as and when!
