Adidas “Pro Bat”
« on: January 28, 2022, 11:28:10 PM »

I do like a good eBay bargain and this is my most recent.

Listed with very little detail and not great photos.

Claims to be from the “factory” not “a shop”

It’s not like the other Adidas bats I’ve owned.
It’s got a decent oval handle with double thick binding.

Lovely shape and performance is sensational.

Any ideas on who made this one?

Stickers are genuine.
Toe guard is the sort of white/clear PU type.
I’ve take a pic next to an FC Sondhi made bat.

Would a pro use a toe guard?

I think that’s the whole point, it’s not a pro bat!!

It was an eBay gamble but has turned out to be really quite nice but not like other Adidas bats I’ve owned, despite the stickers.

But I’d be interested in knowing thoughts on who made it?

SS is a good shout although it’s got a thick double bound oval handle.

If they are standard from the factory then a pro would use a toe guard yes.

Garton had an epoxy style toe on his bat in the last t20

For what it's worth on the origins of this bat - WCW are the only ones that use this style of toe guard that I've seen other than a handful of boutique/smaller batmakers. Handle throws me off, but I haven't seen enough of Mikes work to be sure.

Allegedly has links to Adidas too.

I popped into WCW yesterday and what a brilliant set up (but that’s for another thread)

It sorted my origin story for this bat as well

In case anyone was still interested

He must be taking a break from the Great eBay Grift.

This looks a great bat - what info did WCW give on its provenance? You haven't stumbled on a Goldsworthy or Smeed stick?
