Outdoor Nets 2022
« on: March 25, 2022, 09:27:28 AM »

Looking forward to first outdoor nets first outdoor nets for this this season.
After having being hit by a fierce inswinging yorker which broke my toe finger more than a month ago at first indoor net with Norden CC. It is still painful...

Does it hurt more or less when you're typing up dodgy ebay listings?

That wasn't for listing dodgy listings.

Quick word of warning for any who might see this one up for sale - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bellingham-and-Smith-Fireball-Pro-Bat-Grade-1-2lb-11oz-/284654285728?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0

I recently sold this guy this bat for £83, it is NOT a G1. Wasn't bought as such and I listed it as a G2 which is what it was sold to me as. Perfectly good bat but the listing is nonsense.

Sure you didn't get concussion as well?

A toe finger is the instrument used for typing that fabricates the grade of a cricket bat.

That's it's seller's opinion, he auctioned that bat as grade 2, might be due to the amount of speck, otherwise that bat had 9 arrow straight grains and a low full profile and a solid fitted handle.
I went on their website and went through Bellingham and Smith Facebook pages, nothing confirmed it's grading, they only said, top quality willow etc.
I sold it as grade 1 because that's what I thought about it y the seller agreed to it.

The seller (me) did not agree to anything?

I sold it as a grade 2 because that is what B&S graded and sold it as.

I can only speculate about why you would have (falsely) claimed it was a grade 1 bat but I imagine you did so in order to massively inflate the price you were selling it for.

To me this is hugely dishonest and I struggle to believe that you don't also realise this.

What I said is that seller auctioned that bat as grade 2, that might have been due to amount of speck on the bat.
A potential buyer contacted me and tapped mallet and cricket ball on it.
He was satisfied that the bat is grade 1. He bought that bat.

Whatever it was graded by the manufacturer is what you should be selling it as. Would this buyer have happily paid the same price had they not believed it to be a higher grade of willow?

You could, honestly, say you believe it has been misgraded (although the marks/specks were pretty prominent) but to claim it was G1 in order to facilitate a sale just strikes me as dishonesty.

@Jimbo
If you've a look on ebay, you'll find out that there are grade 1 bats with specks, so that's not the defying factor that a bat isn't grade 1.
And I couldn't find anywhere which stated its being grade 2, it's you who's making it for grade 2. Your starting auction was low for a bat of that quality regardless what grade that was.
Specks don't have any negative effect on a bat performance.
