Sports specific glasses/ polycarbonate lenses

Hi all

So I’m after a pair of sports specific glasses that won’t smash to smithereens- I think I need a specific type of lens for sport.
Does anyone have any recommendations? I’m wary of buyin online as you can’t try them on. Maybe I should have my current pair adjusted.

Any thoughts welcome!

If they're just for cricket/non-contact sport then I don't know if you need to go all out with sport specific options. I use a pair of frames I got from Specsavers.

They're slightly thicker, more resilient frames but other than that they've just got the same scratch resistant coating as my regular work glasses.

Worth giving your optician a ring and seeing what they'd recommend. Neither of my two opticians thought I'd need anything specific for cricket.

Specsavers standard single vision lens with the Ultraclear coating. I've found getting the additional treatment done to them has stopped scratching, smudging or the lens getting dusty really well all through last season and I wear the same pair day to day as well.

Thanks but I’m not asking about glasses, I’m asking about a lens that won’t smash to smithereens if god forbid hit by a ball.
I’d suitable for sport bearing in mind we play with a hard ball….

Yeah, that's why I was talking about the lenses in my glasses?

Mine have been dropped, stood on, hit with various things and never cracked or shattered. They are not any sports specific lens type, but they do have the additional treatment to them to prevent scuffs, etc.

I'd imagine most modern lenses are designed so as not to shatter into your eye on impact. Contact lenses may be a different story but from your original post it sounded like you were talking about glasses.

Fair do’s mate, thanks for the advice. I’ll ask around some opticians including my local specsavers- maybe I don’t need anything to fancy after all. I’ve always played with contacts but that’s not an option so I guess I’m wary of playing in glasses.
