« on: April 02, 2022, 10:53:30 AM »

Hi everyone I’m going to  Lanka on a cricket tour with my school in Easter based in Colombo I’m flying direct from Manchester On a 14hr flight and staying for 10 nights having 3 training sessions and 5 games 1 at Galle!! Are there any bags you’d recommend for on the plane and just touring in general??

Are they sturdy, what about the new balance England one?

I had one of those. I think the struts are made of a aluminium as one of them buckled and lost its strength.

The light blue Newbery Tour bags are pretty good and I've got a huge Kookaburra that others the same amount of protection with plastic structs as the Adidas/New Balance one.

When we flew with Easy Jet my teammates had paid extra for sports bags. I turned up and thought I'd try my luck. Sure enough all I had to do was just put it on the oversized baggage trolley.

If you're thinking of getting a old school coffin like this one, make sure it has wheels. It's a real pain when you need the wheels and they're not there.

I also found it handy to take a cricket duffle in the coffin as it's easier to take to the games.

Thanks for such a detailed reply! Could you send a link or photo of the newbery one as I can’t find it anywhere?

No longer new I'm afraid but they come up on ebay every now and then. I had one and it was quite sturdy. Only reason I sold it was a teammate was in dire need (and I'd seen something else nice and shiny).

Ah that’s a shame, is there anything similar out there?

Or the Aero Tour bag could be a good shout. Any bag that you feel comfortable putting in the cargo hold with your cricket bats will do.

Any decent bag will do the job, especially if you're on a budget. Bats can be wrapped in covers etc or even have pads wrapped around them for added protection. If packed well, you should be fine

I know a man with a simply massive B&S bag he’s about to list on eBay.
