SG Bats or even Indian bats in general
« on: April 08, 2022, 07:54:28 AM »

From what I've seen SG make great bats but my question is about the willow used. Different price points use different grades but would anyone know the structure?

Out of curiosity do they use nurtured in India, airdried in India, JS Right & Sons specially airtight sealed airfreight?

While wood is a natural product, can anyone shed light on the longevity of an Indian made bat to a made in England bat? How big is this can of worms I've just opened?

When it comes to SG, they import directly from JS Wright. And regarding the price tags and the grade of bats, SG is far better comparing SS wherein SS you will get a lot of misgraded Grade 1s at the price of a Grade 3 or Grade 2.

England-made bats are far better than Indian-made bats comparing the longevity of the bats and the handles used. Eng made have a better and stronger handle comparing to Indian Made.

in Simple words, England made grade 1s are better than Indian made grade 1s

I've not seen an SS handle that I liked or that I thought would really last. The Robinsons made bats I've seen have seemed much better constructed.

Only had one SG-made Kookaburra but it was a very decent bat at a good price.

Generally very good performance wise in my view SG and DSC are better than SS. Only issue is the narrowing of the blade seen them range from 103mm to 106mm so if you end with one in the lower end of this scale your basically buying a Harrow.

Willow wise can be very generous but you never know what’s behind the large amount of stickers on lots of models.

If you have never tried one certainly worth trying

The SS bats I have had all feel pretty much the same, a thin round handle that feels weird at the bottom. At least with the SG bats they have some variation in shapes and thickness.
