I am just looking for recommendations of what is the most popular and best type of cricket bat grips. Myself, on my bats I have Neon Pink Octopus grips.

This is a "how long is a piece of string" question! I think you could ask 20 people and get 20 answers.

For me, I really like the GM Matrix grips. Good amount of grip, don't stain your gloves too badly, easy to fit on your bat, last quite well and easy to get hold of.

What I would say is that the terrain grips absolutely shred batting gloves.

I like really soft grips like the GM matrix ones.

I only have one set of batting gloves (Warsop Platinum Pro Flexi) which I purchased last season but I have 3 bats; I have used the gloves throughout the winter during indoor nets and a handful of times this season and I do really like the octopus grip (I do have another grip underneath) and there has been minimal wear and tear to the gloves and grip; they are relatively easy to fit too. I am just trying to source grips from suppliers and just trying to establish a general overview especially with a huge selection of types and colours; just trying to keep costs low as well as minimum delivery charges. I have seen other version of the Players Matrix, which does look like a good bat grip but I have also seen Hex 3D which looks stylish but not sure about durability, ease of fitting et cetera. I like grip colours of pink (I have 2 daughters) and white but I am quite keen on gold; you used to mark out on the grip where my hands who grip. I appreciate any advice. Thank you.

My favorite are the thin chevron grips (if I remember correctly) that I bought them from Laver & Wood. They are very light and can be used to provide additional traction on top of another grip.

Not all grips are made equal. Same grip with different grade of rubber feels completely different.

Even GM ripple grips I have seen in 2 qualities - one are absolutely super thick (earlier versions perhaps)- others (most of the new ones) are thinner. Kooka SCALE used to be super thick now they are way thinner. Doesnt mean they have gone down in quality or anything. Still good quality - Just lighter weights perhaps.

Having said that here is my take
Simplest grip is Diamond grip- no fuss just a piece of rubber - good quality ones improve pickup but not much control (more slipping after a bit of sweat). But dont underestimate - if made in a thicker nicer rubber even a diamond feels nice and gives a great vintage look to a bat.

Then its Chevron- more control due to Criss-cross designing (very thin grooves though).

Next step up is GM matrix (deeper grooves which are more closely packed- with more rubber mean more control)

then we have RIPPLE or SCALE- Very prominent grooves giving more "grip" and lighter pickup.

Octopus comes in 2 qualities - one is softer, more gentler (SLAZENGER or gray nicolls Octopus) whereas another (BDM, BAS, kookaburra Octopus) which gives the best grip possible yet shreds the gloves more aggressively. Gloves get more shredded based on the quality of palms as well as how much you sweat as well. Wet palms rip quicker of course.

Gram for gram Ripple gives the best pickup and control - even a thin ripple grip improves pickup yet gives a lot of control.

GM Dynamic or Kookaburra Xtreme use 2 diff grips in one and end result is really good again.

As someone said before its all personal preference at the end of the day. Being CBF I would say buy a different type of grip every month and try.

Chevron grips for me always have been. Still got a small selection of UK made ones and that�s what lives on my match bats. Other than that I do like a think spiral grip on a thin handle such as a Keeley as I like the one grip set up

GM Dynamic all day for me. Early consensus seems to be GM of one kind or another, which isn't surprising.

This is peak badgerness! 😆 Personally i don't think it makes a huge difference, asmost grips do the job. It's personal preference and most people i find don't really care too much. So if as I suspect the original post was to see which grips to buy for your refurb business, then I'd suggest good quality Chevrons. Nobody can really complain at them, they're good for fitting an additional grip over the top and work pretty well.

Trying to cater for everyone is almost impossible, so my advice is pick one style in a few colours and ensure you get good quality.

The trend for thinner grips is to get scale weight down and for me is detrimental to the feel. So personally try and avoid them.

It's always good to have different options, I would suggest getting non-branded ones if you're going to be putting them on refurbs. I'm currently really liking the SG Hexa (SG equivalent of GM Dynamic).

Always liked the look of them but they're an absolute nightmare to get hold of in bulk.
