Why dont they make helmets for slightly smaller heads? Its just one size for 58-62 cms. I remember buying an Albion ages back which was supposed to be 58-62 but it felt so big, I had to eventually give it away.

Just catching up on this thread as have had a manic few weeks with the Tests starting, good to see them back in the market and interesting that they are using their C&D name rather than Albion as the headline brand.

Helmet wise it looks like they have updated the previous mould/style to make it compliant and offered a cloth covering option too thats always been a popular request. Ear pads make it look a bit cumbersome IMO and could do with a re-shape but at the price points offered they'll scoop up some of the market currently dominated by Masuri/Shrey.

My son needed a new helmet last year. Turns out we were gifted one (an Albion by coincidence) that he likes- but I was really confused how to actually buy a helmet.

Cricket shops seem to all carry very limited ranges- especially for juniors. Buying online seems to be a total lottery as to whether it will fit/feel comfy etc.

How do people decide which helmet to buy when it's so hard to try a number of different ones on (without driving around all day)

SS TON has just released an 'Albion' helmet on their Instagram.

Either a deal has been signed or that is an extreme example of copyright infringement. 😮

For a youngster, I would always try to go to a shop. Different brands 'fits' seem to all come up different.

If it isn't a deal, that's naughty.

I did ask if it was a colab on their Instagram page but I strongly suspect they have simply copied it and then had the audacity to use the name too. Mind you Albion aren’t actually in the cricket market as C&D was bought by a previous Aero employee who has resurrected the brand with the aforementioned helmets.

They are selling an albion and an albion-Z; Why would they copy the albion-z ? Quite likely a partnership.

Is this similar to the Shrey bringing out what looked like copies of the older Masuri helmets?

Were Shrey not the Indian manufacturer for Masuri? Might understand it all wrong but pretty sure when Masuri switched production away from India, Shrey went ahead on their own instead.

As for the SS/Albion lids, it'd make good business for Albion to strike a deal with SS so I suspect that'll be what's happened, but if they haven't then it is pretty darn cheeky!

Correct, Shrey set up their own brand to utilise the existing tooling left vacant by Masuri.

Masuri moved production to the Uk as they needed to go back to the drawing board to develop a new helmet to meet the ball/peak peentration test. Albion at the time with their club mk2 were failing at 30mph which is where the demise of them as a brand happened as they didnt come up with a new design that ever made it to market.

If albion are no longer in the cricket market, not sure if there can be copyright infringement. Plus SS have named the albion as sub-model name, the helmet is still SS ton helmet. Not sure if albion is even existing to file a complaint, but they wouldn't be aware or even care I guess. I was more hoping SS ton or someone would get in partnership with Albion to bring the entire range back. At least we have C&D now, so that is good option.

Just had a look at the SS website, they are saying "Marketed by SS company" in the listings for the Albion range but for their regular range, this wording is absent. So it could be a collaboration?

That sounds like a collaboration.

Amazed at the 'surely they wouldn't blatantly infringe other's IP' when it's SS being talked about!
