Ipl- Success or Failure?
« on: May 18, 2008, 02:58:05 PM »

I think the Ipl has been a hit, I have watched 95% of the matches and they have been played in the right manner, to a great standard.

One thing I would say is that it is far too long... Players must be getting tired and fed up now..

What improvements on this Ipl could be made? And what are your thoughts on it?

Failure i hate to say it but it was to hot for all the players that wernt youst to the conditions pushing 42 degrees centigrade. i think its making a mockery of proper cricket the cricket played on village greens with old people laughing with beers in there hand at first slip with th few kids like us in the teams for the expieriance. i don't like 20/20 even though we play it at colts and i think the 50 overs a side games u get much longer to bat and think about your batting and can get better bowling figures from them.

May I ask who wasn't used to the conditions? There were a mixture of International batsmen who have played in Indian and the Sub0Continent before and then the home-grown players who live in the heat 24/7!

depends but what ur thinking is the home grown players arnt top class because there not international it was as boring as the stanford 20/20 atleast in that they didnt have men cheerleaders!! and also one of the players in that who played for st kitts was overseas and my club

Yeah, when I first saw the Men cheerleaders, I thought... WHAT!! But actually, there are a lot of girls that go to the matches too, I'm not sure they would like to see girls dance! ;D

I disagree with the homegrown players comment, the quality of homegrown players is excellent, and there are few of them in the teams, meaning a high quality team. It is also good to have competition between international players, which cant do them any harm.. Some of the young Indian lads could have been mistaken for International players with some of their performances!

It's dragged on way too long for me, caught my interest for the first 2 weeks. But now it's just boring.

shorten it to 30  games not 59. i mean look at the nba it goes for more than 100 games with atleast 40 games per team. apart from the length it's been pretty good. The kiwis and poms wouldnt handle the heat too well

NOW its semi final times... so its much more interesting.. the top 4-6 are quite close

Need to let MORE non-indians play.. 4 limit is a bit restrictive.. plus no offense but i'd rather watch int'l players more often than non-pro's.. bring in the crowds as they say  :-*

However lots of domestic and new players have been doing great.. Sean Marsh, RohitSharma, Go-Swaami, Chawla, Shikar Dhawan, and many many more!  ;D
