Wednesday night mystery.
« on: December 14, 2022, 07:06:51 PM »

Bought this bat on the bay, partly as I love a butterfly stain, and partly through pure curiosity as to what it was.

Stickers look like fakes to me, low quality. Shape definitely isn’t a Lucky 7, and no edge stamps.

Winner gets a sense of accomplishment and to act smug for the rest of the evening.

Reckon that looks like a GN nitro. Shoulder and handle look right for a GN, edge stamps could have been sanded off during refurb. Only guessing there though and I have no idea about stamping etc on the shoulders

Hi Dave, I also saw that one one ebay and was tempted, but like you I decided stickers were probably fake so kept clear. He did also have another Lucky 7 which seemed genuine though, but wanted too much for it

Good call mate, the old nitros I have seen don’t seem to have edge stamps and the shape looks a match.

Yeah, wasn’t really after a Kucky 7, just a boredom/curiosity purchase.

Next clue, potential original sticker shadow under the lucky 7 ones?

Did the nitro have that sort of sword shaped back sticker, think the predator did but wrong shape for that I think.

Doesn’t really fit with the shadow I found.

Will try and remove the rest in the next few days to see if there’s anything else under there.

If it is a GN predator is the only one I have seen so far that fits the (back sticker) bill.

Coincidentally, this just popped up on my FB marketplace search this evening. The handle, shoulders and profile look pretty similar!

👍🏻 I’m pretty sure it’s a GN of a similar era.
