I will always remember his put down of Michael Vaughan: “Captains are different,” he said. “You get captains that really enjoy the title, the power and the accolades that go with it, and then you have other captains that continue to be pushed and want to learn for the benefit of the team.”

Morgan completely changed everything from we were dumped out of the 2015 WC from team ethos, embracing of different cultures, in fact rewriting the team blueprint so players had no fear of failure. It’s the most remarkable turn around to WC champions I’ve seen since I started supporting England-about 1980.

It cannot be a coincidence Morgan and Mcullum are mates, they must share the same methods of how to mould a winning team.

We seem to be turning round our test side as well.

I think it also helped he was an outsider to start with. Perhaps he knew how to embrace different cultures to one of respect and understanding.
We ended up with a multi cultural team that reflected our society. That’s must be massively part of his success.

Morgan really has rewritten the book on management.
