Hi all,
Thought I would post a little review of the Kookaburra Kahuna 4.1 that arrived with me this week.
After dangerously clicking around the various online retailers one evening, I kept finding myself looking at the various models of Kahuna that Kookaburra are now offering in 2023.
Back when I first starting playing hardball cricket in 2004, the Kahuna was the first bat my parents ever purchased for me, so this model always has had a little soft spot in my cricketing past.
I decided to take the plunge on a slightly lower grade bat that I would usually purchase, mainly because I haven't had a Kahuna for a good 5 / 6 years, but I ended up going for a 4.1 Kahuna from the 2023 range which cost me £135 direct from Talent Cricket.
Initial thoughts are positive. I really like the new stickers and the green colourway with the white grip are a fantastic combination. The handle on this Kahuna is nice and thick with a very grippy "Vertex" grip applied. It is by no means a chunky bat; 34mm edges at most, but for the price, its a clean bit of willow, feels great in the hands and looks great.
Tapping up with an old ball feels good - I would say that the bat is a little on the hard side at the moment, but I am not sure if this is a common theme across the lower grade Kookaburra's... I would be interested to know how some of the higher grade Kooks feel if anyone has one?
For the price, you cannot go wrong and I am very pleased with my purchase. Fantastic service from Talent Cricket too!
