Stunning butterfly

Recently picked up a stunning h4l butterfly (not directly). Never seen a h4l bat in the flesh & they don’t disappoint. Sadly to heavy for me but absolutely stunning. I can’t believe that with the current prices of bats being what they are butterflies are sub £200.

Wow, amazing grains on that. A few companies would just stick some stickers on the stain and sell it as a grade 1

To me, that’s a bat with a pin knot rather than a butterfly. Unless I knew beforehand I think that would irk me somewhat.

I wouldn't imagine that tiny pin knot up there would be enough to deter most manufacturers from grading that as a top grade. It's out of the hitting zone, and bang in line with a grain, but is 11 grained, a fairly light cleft and all sapwood.
