The damned weather!
« on: May 10, 2023, 11:12:00 AM »

Has anyone else not managed to play any cricket yet?

Bizarrely we haven’t even managed to train in a month, let alone get a match in.

Zephyr and the other weather gods appear to only conspire against us on a Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Nobs.

Had 2 warm up games on astro & 1 Sunday friendly on grass. 1st league game was called off last Saturday so hopefully this Saturday will be the first league match. I hope to play t20 tomorrow evening but there are some big showers around on the south coast.

Despite the weather we managed to start our league season on time on 22nd April, played three league games so far. Last Saturday was a close call, we didn't end up starting until 4pm, with a reduced overs game. We haven't started the season very well, so we would have probably benefitted from the points for cancelling games. Some teams have had all three games cancelled, and so sit quite a few points ahead of us now. Seems a little unfair, but we turn up to play cricket and so it is what it is.

Best weather we have had was a pre season friendly on 1st April. 8th league game called off, 15th off, 22nd player and won, 29th off, 6th off, T20 tonight off that’s our reason so far so 20% of league season done and 1 game played

Have somehow managed to play every game so far this and that’s in the north west. Admittedly heavily disrupted by showers, mostly falling between first and second innings. Luckily our bowling attack has been firing and kept the oppo to low scores we’ve managed to chase.

Lots of training cancelled though which is a shame, and our track which is usually a batsman’s paradise for the most part, hasn’t been that great  :o

It’ll come, but bring it on!

Mine has been -

8th April - Pre season friendly - OFF
15th April - 1st League game Away - OFF
22nd April - League Home - played and lost a close game
29th April - League Away - played and got thumped
6th May - League Home - played the 1st innings before it was abandoned

Our 2's in Div 4 have only played 1 out of the 4 league games.

We have only trained outdoors once

It must get sunnier and dryer soon though... right

Just finished coaching juniors on a very sodden pitch in south east. Anymore rain tonight and I sense another wash out weekend. Last year I remember like this was 2012 in Bristol.

Haven’t been as unlucky as some on here as we’ve managed to get the best part of 2 games in so far.

First week was meant to be the 15th but got pushed back as pretty much no team could get their ground ready.

22nd was rained off. Managed to get within 8 overs of a finish in our third game and got a full game in last week. Weather’s looking good in the north east tomorrow so should get another full game in
