In fairness, it doesn't look much in terms of damage and it's a lovely looking bat other than that. This is what demand for light, grainy, big bats does.

The more people will accept 5 grainers with 30mm edges instead, the more people won't be able to charge such amounts for these bats. Big, light and grainy are rarer to come by and people obviously want them. So people will put them up for premium prices.

It feels wrong

If one complains to Keeley saying this is taking the mick

They won’t sell to you again most likely …

Law of economics normally means what goes up must come down  :)
Except the last 5 years of cricket bat prices it’s been a vertical line.

I think it’s absolutely mad for anyone whatever standard to pay the price for this bat.

Personally I hope Keeley start going over 1000 and up to 1500 because at some point those smaller batmakers of which we are lucky to have may of…will benefit more from the club cricketer who wants a decent but but does not have a grand spare. So their sales may increase.

Just to put this into perspective you could get these 3 that are G1, G2 and G3 and still have £200 left in your pocket for the price of that Keeley or £400 if paying full price. Now I know I don’t have the experience or the skills of a master but surely that’s not worth paying an extra £700 for a single bat from the likes of myself, Jonny, Reaper etc is it??

If people keep buying them Certain bat makers won’t stop

Also puts into context other bat makers sales recently

Salix we’re offering good value in august

A kember is also classed as a master bat maker i believe, and although you don’t get flash sales they also don’t sell bats at 800 or a 1000 …

Keeley has earned the reputation and makes very very good bats. So if he's charging that and getting it, then fair play. You cold debate whether it's worth it, or whether there is better value elsewhere, but if people are paying it then fair enough I suppose.

Hopefully what @ppccopener says will happen, and does I suppose to some extent. But more likely most people will buy cheap bats from the subcontinent as they're generally 'bigger'.

That's the way a lot of my club go, cheap Indian or Pakistani made bats and they'll have a new one every season because it's smashed to bits or the handle has gone.

I was chatting to Tim about this very topic, and his exact response was "it's got my name on it mate and people buy it"

So until people stop buying it, why wouldn't he charge as much as he possibly can? He's in the business of making a living afterall

Totally agree, whereas I personally wouldn't pay £650, people will and as a business why wouldn't he. If you are the 'Ferrari' of the cricket world and all the pros come to you, why would you sell at 'Yugo' or 'VW' prices.

TBF if you are paying that much at least you know you are buying from a legendary batmaker.

I'll stick to non Ferraris though  :D  (Don't shoot me down if I come to buy a bat from you   ;) )

Some fantastic value to be had in other brands.

Spot on. There’s room in the market for everyone, from the best value smaller batmakers through to the giants of the batmaking world. They definitely don’t struggle to sell ‘em!

For sure Keeley charging the best price they can is understandable, but it's not a situation that's without losers - boosting prices because you can still pulls the whole market upwards, which isn't great for the end consumer. Easy for a smaller maker to justify high prices when Keeley is sending them out the door at £800, and even necessary at times as really the only thing separating two similar bats from different brands is the branding. Sell yours cheaper and many consumers will view them as inferior products.

I am glad I am well stocked with my 15 keeleys. I can’t afford to buy any new ones anymore.
