Hunts County UK
« on: August 16, 2023, 01:07:14 PM »

Are Hunts County still made in the UK or part mades reshaped?

Just had the re- emergence of an itch I had ages ago to try an Insignia..

Anyone own one? Thoughts on it?

well, i used an earlier insignia in the late 90's. 2-11/12, big profile for the time (not edges), slight bulge from mid to low.
its currently in the back of a cupboard. used it in the nets last year along with my 1992 STAC copy of the Lance Klusener Slazenger no shoulder bat. Both still ping surprisingly well considering they have not seen daylight for 25 years................ altho lots of cracks and bits falling off.

@elliss Do you think you can share some photos of both the bats?

My boys and I have been using them for 2 years now, hand shaped by Duffy to the required spec - they are proper bats from probably an unfashionable brand - they go like stink!
Insignia shape is awesome, similar to Laver & Wood Special

I got Insignia - Super Select through a dealer. It's like Spring. Excellent bat.

I'm not even sure they are part-mades. But you can get in trouble for suggesting anyone but M&H is up to this.

There is often an accompanying assertion that "Hunts can make a bat".

I had one when the stickers still said 'Made in England'. It was really good, though I didn't score many runs with it.

I’d be very short send if their top bats aren’t made in house. They seem a very genuine professional outfit

I'll just take a load of photos next time I'm there, showing bats being made, will clear things up for those on the forum who seem to think they don't make anything.

Like almost all brands, many of their stock bats are made in India. But unlike most other brands, if you said you wanted a bat in a certain spec (no matter the grade) they will make it for you, often there and then.

They are often booked out a few weeks ahead in the pre season period with bat fitting sessions.

Isn't this exactly what I said you/ someone else would say?

A shelf Insignia would have had a 'Made in England' sticker on it not so long ago. It no longer does.

You can also go to M&H and take photographs of bats being made.
