A bit more power
« on: September 03, 2023, 06:55:45 PM »

Let’s say you perhaps don’t have as much physical strength as you did but want to get a bit more hitting into your game.
Would you go for a bat lighter or heavier than you currently use?

40 over win or lose new ball each innings. So your never playing with an old ball

Just curious how others would go about it

Worth looking at a short blade / long handle set up buddy. I’m only really comfortable with a 2.8 SH, but happily play with a 2.10 SB/LH - lots more wood in the bat and you don’t feel the extra weight at all 👍🏻

Getting some coaching from someone who knows their stuff about power hitting I think. Julian Wood does some really good videos about how it's almost a different technique to your every day batting.

SBLH isn't a bad idea but it won't miraculously make you a hitter, just gives you a bit more middle and a bit more leverage to swing.

I am not sure becoming a power hitter is the best thing, learning your angles, knowing what the bowler is trying to do and knowing where your scoring areas are... It is a mix.

But sure buy a new bat, it is what I would do. 😂

Just done exactly this, gone from 2.8 sh to 2.10 sb/LH great move for me. I'd also say work out what shots you can hit big with/ you consistently time them. For me that's the slog sweep to a spinner and the drive over extra. Never been one to whack sixes down the ground but can consistently hit these for 4.
