I was on romida website and it said not to store your bat in its cover or leave it in its cover as it will prevent it from breathing

I leave my two bats in covers, is this really an issue in winter in a cool room which is neither that hot or cold � when temperatures do drop yes it will be stored in the cover in the room when it�s 1-2 C over the course of the next 3 months until in feb temps increase again ..

Should it be stored outside of the cover in just bubble wrap or similar ?

Defo no bubble wrap as it could lead to a build up of moisture as it�s not breathable.

A bat sock is perfect as let�s it breathe without trapping anything in or out as they rise and fall. I keep mine inside my kit bag that is kept indoors and never had any probs of it being too brittle come winter nets which is the main concern and causes most breakages from my experience.

Agree winter nets and also when you first go out in spring seen many bats of team mates damaged could be harder balls kept in cold too ..?

I really wasn�t aware that making a bubble wrap sleeve like a half bat sleeve you may buy is not healthy for a bat

Wonder how many other cbf members were aware . The bubble was used as it helped stop little dinks here and there even when stored

Surely a bat will dry out more if left open in a centrally heated house?

I leave mine in my bag (so essentially a bat cover) generally in a room away from the radiators, which is generally pretty ambient in temp. No issues. There are also bats left in shops and workshops for sometime out of covers, which are no doubt fine too. Unless you're storing it in an extremely hot or extremely damp place, I'm sure it would be fine.

I reckon this is being overthought a touch. Classic CBF style! 😆

Are the bubble wrap sleeves a no no then ?

I do like to keep them in there as I have 5 kids who sometimes knock things over and move them and leaving them in bubble wrap is a nice way to protect it . I tend to leva the bats open in a spare room in bubble wrap ,

Tbh mate, I've never tested the theory, so it's not factual by any means. I'd just think for it to have any effect, it would need some form of extreme heat or cold/damp. Bats made in the subcontinent could be in plastic wrappers for a good while and nobody would bat an eyelid.
