I've realised what has been leading to too much inconsistency with the ball. I bowled 5-0-25-3. My good balls were really good, either ducking in to the pads or the odd one bouncing and moving away. Too many filth balls which meant I was taken off despite taking 3 wickets and the oppo 8 down.
Unbeknownst to me, I've somehow started beginning my run up off the wrong foot which has meant I developed a bit of a shuffle halfway through my run up to get to the crease correctly. At the tea break our keeper mentioned why I was shuffling and whether I should work on my run up. I went to the nets whilst we were batting to sling a few down and realised the error. Suddenly I was finding my rhythm again and getting the ball somewhere near where I wanted it to go.
I reckon it will be 5-fers every week from now on. We won by 7 wickets and a DNB for me.

Frustrating to say the least

Moments of really good batting with moments of pure rubbish

Top score of 73* and 22* off 93 on Saturday with nothing else above 5

Still somehow averaging 50

Bowling is consistent but I'm not getting much consistent lateral movement which at medium pace I need

Been stuck down the order for Saturdays but hopefully after anchoring our chase this weekend I'll be back up the order a little bit

Sundays I'm going to be up top as it's everyone does something and that's my role so could get plenty of time in the middle there

Team is doing well and I'm chipping in but no real standout scores or bowling figures yet

tore my LCL went back to the nets after recovery and had my knee dislocate again but no majour damage, may be time to hang up the gloves

Opened the bowling on Saturday due to absentees. My refurbished run up did the trick, mostly. Got their opener out with a beauty, top of off stump with a touch of movement into the right hander. Then came on to bowl at the death and took another couple of wickets, including their set batsman for 60. 8-2-31-3

Then batted... Less said about that the better. Under edge through to the keeper for 1.

Came in at 3 chasing 235 in 30 overs. Scored 3 off 20 before slicing one to backward point. Annoying as the coaching I've been having definitely helped and felt like my decision making was decent...

Not quite my season, but a huge day out for the family. I joined this forum around the time my son was born.

Just under 15 years later he scored his first ton today.
And I wasn't there to see it 😂😭

Still very proud Dad.

Although the little (No Swearing Please) had pinched my bat.... Won't be seeing that again in a hurry.

good question, although he has been using H4L bats this season, he took my Keeley which we bought from Tim's workshop 6 years ago. It is now a very special bat as we have both scored 100s with it.

Yesterday was also a fun day out, as my old school are starting a cricket week and so as an old boy I went down to play, obviously we were a bit short, so Isaac came too.

Many of you will have seen that Kumar Sangakarra has been playing village cricket in Dorset, and he was also playing yesterday (his kids are at the school as is Sanath Jayasuriya's son)

Anyway I got to bat with the grand master, which was an amazing experience and then after the game (fun game which we managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory) Kumar gave Isaac his bat...
Here is the photo to prove it happened! Bat review to come...



Honestly Kumar is the nicest guy plus so laid back, turned up in whites and his kit in a plastic bag...

Yes that is the same boy. I don't quite know what has happened to the depth perception of that photo as Isaac is basically the same size as me now.

Sangakkara turning up in whites is just perfect village cricket. Only way it could be better is if he was carrying a Greggs sausage roll and was slightly hungover.

Another season finished and a great season for my club with both Saturday and Sunday sides winning there respective leagues

Managed to get in 12 games across both with most being Sundays (only dismissed 1 in the Sat league) and amassing 382 runs at a shade over 54avg

Was great to play with a lot of the up and coming young players and helping and supporting the new wicket keeper whom has really taken a liking to the role and responsibility of keeping and his progress from the start of the year to now has been amazing.

Personally disappointed I didn’t manage to get a hundred this year having twice got into the 80’s to through it away but overall a great season that’s seen 7 separate players make hundreds, 6 take 5 wicket hauls vs 2 players last year making hundreds and 3 taking 5 wicket hauls and the overall feeling at the club has been great and getting some new players joining.

Hope everyone else has had an enjoyable season and for the first time in a while a bit sad the season is over

Nice read , just a shame in recent summers including this one more so weather has been poor .

Late start and September not warm either and not many weekends where it was warm in between
