I have little idea what our bowling attack will look like this summer. I'm sure someone will tell me...

I could hazard a decent guess at who will be injured if that helps?

Gus Atkinson is not playing for Surrey. Does that mean he's in?

Got tickets for that Test as I'm off work that week so pretty excited to get to see Jimmy bowl before he bows out, what a career.

Seems fairly clear he has been told this will be his last test rather than him deciding he want to stop now.

Seems an odd decision to me given that the group of bowlers on the fringes of the test side are very ordinary.

More likely his body is giving out and he wants one last outing where everyone knows its his retirement game so he gets the send off he deserves. I find it hard to believe they've told him his last test is the first game of a series and I cant see them forcing him into retirement considering the alternative bowling options either.

I don't think you need to read too much between the lines to see he's been told this is it. England/McCullum want to give other bowlers the gametime this summer with (at least half) an eye on the ashes in 18 months.

I'm sure it'll have been done very respectfully, but he's definitely been told they wouldn't be looking to select him going forward.

They won't catch us this time! Not this time! They haven't spotted us! No, they're all snoring in their bunks! Or, you know what? They're drinking at the bar, celebrating our sinking! Not yet, my friends. Not yet!

That's my thinking, suspect they see the need for some new faces to step up to lead the attack and get used to the pressure of being without that experienced head in the side.

assuming he is fit, he is likely to be our best bowler bar far at Lords vs Windies ............. which will lead to WTF are we doing queries. Not saying the plan is wrong. Just saying what may well happen.
