Chad's Random Corkers
« on: August 25, 2024, 08:56:57 PM »

Sorting through bats at the moment, and figured I'd take a break and take some images and just dump them on here.

We have got 3 Rob Packs in this entry - an interpretation of the Tendulkar Profile, a Screaming Cat inspired pearler and a Julian/Rob classic. :)

Next up, a pair of Pope Tempestas, a pair of Oblivion Stealth Players (Pro Performance misgrades) and an older style Legend. (IMO superior to the current Legend branding)

Probably the last set for tonight - GM. A Ben Duckett Kryos, a Hypa Dan Lawrence and an Icon James Vince.

Next up, some SG bats. Got these off Hanif at Eclipse All Sports - lovely chap I've had the pleasure of meeting and also been roped into doing a video or 2 for him 😂 We have 3 gauge busters here, not the prettiest, but an RP Icon, Sonny Tonny Black Icon and a Dhoni Triple Crown. 😁

And next up, some from Jonny Scott @jonny77 - had the pleasure of meeting him a good few years back when I began travelling to meet batmakers. Lovely chap who makes an awesome bat, and will never turn down a cuppa and chat while making bats. 2 of these are ones I got off Dave @procricket  , one is a copy of my Babar Azam Vapour 1.3, and 2 are custom SCAT Series 1 and 3 interpretations in Butterfly grade.

Some Australian specific retro models of the big 3 brands - the GM Maestro, the Kookaburra Kahuna Retro and the 50th Anniversary Gray Nics. All lovely bats, nothing absolutely crazy in size, but nice volume and great ping-age.

Next up, some Keeley Pros! Tapping up through these, it's no wonder that people love to talk about Keeley. Even their stock bats are all generally of a very high standard. Here we have a SBLH Livingstone shape, a Babar Azam shape and a Virat Kohli shape, at least how Tim makes them. Having met the Keeleys, they are a lovely bunch, and have looked after me well - and Tim always asks how the batmaking is going and will happily talk for ages. The bat museum is just incredible!

And lastly for today, Salix/ACID. We have got an ACID Nitric, a POD Classic Retro, and 2 Knife models. Having watched Andrew and Kel make bats, it's a very efficient setup they have there, and it is almost mesmerising to watch Andrew on the linisher. They aren't the biggest of bats by any stretch, but their ability to get the best out of what they have to work with is impressive - my goodness do the bats ping. A lovely workshop to visit, and I'm glad they're pushing out more content on social media to raise awareness for the art, and being open about their processes etc.

Been a wee while since I've last updated this - I don't know if I've shared this particular bat here before. It was a plain one, made in India to Rohit Sharma's shape. Sourced via thecricketmasters back when they were around - it is probably in the upper/elite echelons of the bat collection. Just a beautifully crafted shape in just about every way, including the handmade imperfections. We've whacked on some M&H Puma Original 334s, which I wasn't too sure about. But after putting them on, it just didn't feel like it suited a white grip, so whacked on a yellow which just completes the look (IMO). It doesn't come in light, with double binding, double gripping, stickers, scuff and toe guard taking it to just over 2lb 13.5oz, but it definitely doesn't feel like it. (Was around 2.10 without the extra dressings) Off to a good friend who popped round and had a pick up of it. I will miss it, but alas nothing is permanent  :)
