Anyone ever regretted selling/ getting rid of a bat?
« on: March 15, 2010, 06:24:13 PM »

Basically as the topic states, I have done it twice.

1. Brian Lara 501- My first proper bat, got it when i was 12, went like an absolute train. Got a woodworm when they came out because they were all the rage, found out a year later my mum took the lara bat to the dump the day i got the woodworm....

2. RBK Dhoni 183- Got one of these off a team mate 3 years ago, was an absolute beast. Split a tiny bit in the toe, all my mates convinced me it was fooked, so i sold it for a tenner. The guy I sold it to let me use it a year later and it was pretty much fine, he had it repaired by M&H. Still lose sleep about it now! :P

Still wouldnt mind getting a dhoni 183 if anyones got one knocking around, was a really really nice bat!!

1) My M&H solution/original. Was made for a pro, got it for £100. Best pinging bat I ever owned. Should of got weight taken off rather than sold it.

2) My blade strike. Hit my first 50 with it. Including 9 fours and 1 huge 6 into a graveyard! Just had it refurbed by craig and used it in a couple of matches on tour and was loving it. Got a great bat off craig though so sold it.

Probably the bat I really regret getting rid of was my first ever kookaburra kahuna warrior. Had the fibreglass backing and weighed around 2lb 10oz. Split in the toe, and sent it back to kookaburra, they sent a replacement out which was shocking and sold it for £40 used twice! I should have kept it, but I had never even considered repairing bats!

only time i regret giving a bat away was when i gave one for nothing

it was a wasp and after a tour of Australia i just got a new screaming cat so even thought it was a gun i was just struck by the scat.

earlier in the season jermaine lawson offered me good money for it.

oh well

to be honest i give away more of my kit than i sell

Had plain net bat which was 2lbs 7. Everyone rejected it at first sight and after one month of nets ( one month for me to use the same bat in nets is a milestone), the bat was opening up and i was really enjoying it when  sold it to a mate. It was a tinyish bat (from Pakistani standards) but was an absolute bazooka.  would have made a great match bat but wasn't to be.
