Face protector over helmet
« on: December 07, 2024, 03:49:20 PM »

Hey all

My helmet is a standard helmet where the back digs in to the nape of my neck, preventing me from getting in the right position. I could buy a wk specific helmet with the cut out at the back but thats something else to carry, they are expensive and they are just as heavy as a normal helmet. I have been considering getting a face protector instead. The only cricket specific option is the aero kpr. I read earlier reviews that they are uncomfortable and dig in but aero have released a v2 that claims to be more comfortable now:

I have also come across a shrey face protector for hockey. The grille looks eerily similar to their cricket helmet grilles and wanted to ask if anyone has any experience with these as opposed to the aero ones? Am I ok going for a piece of equipment not specifically designed for cricket? I am assuming the requirements for a face protector would be v similar, regardless of if you are guarding against a cricket ball or hockey ball?!

Few of our keepers use the Aero, long as it's adjusted properly none of them have ever found it uncomfortable.
