What size cricket ball to use?
« on: March 15, 2010, 10:52:59 PM »

Is there a specific age from when you move on from the youth size ball to the mens one?
The probelm is with a mens size ball i lose my acuracy (spinner), but with a youth sized one i'm fine.
I've got a course with T. Jenner and so don't want to go around bowling wides.
I turned 15 a month ago.

Any answers would be great!

A course with Terry Jenner? Wow uve either paid a lot for that or you are very promising?

Seeing as your 15 he might not expect you to use a senior ball might be worth checking with the organiser?

If you are 2 use a senior just get out there and practice, practice, practice.

You a leggy then Kavi?

I was bowling with a newish mens ball, but an oldish junior one, maybe thats the reason?
The mens one just slides out of my hand....

I'm a leggy, I didn't pay that much....cost the same as a normal custom bat... I must be very promising then :D

My fingers just run over it dragging it down as the surface is so smooth- I'm guessing here

I've had lessons with terry through county cricket youth, and he is superb! He normally carries a couple of spares, and listen to what ge says because he is almost certainly correct on everything!

My fingers hurt after 5/6 overs because of the seam but it's worth it, old ball's ok as drift can help...

Always keep my balls in good condition :D

yeah Colesy a bit of Lombardi always seems to focus the mind . . . or is that Lambrini!

As a leggy you wont tend to use a new ball so try and get a quite used senior ball

kavi- sounds like a good experience mate, you should learn a lot. i do a bit of coaching and junior balls are only intended for players aged 13 and below, or in school years 8 and below.
