Ben Stokes's Bat
« on: April 16, 2025, 09:36:49 AM »

Don't post much on here these days, but thought this was worthy of a thread. Last week I picked up one of Ben Stokes's match bats from a Charity auction where it'd been donated by his agent.

The specs are as follows:

2lb 9oz
39mm edge
66mm spine
Full length blade
Full width blade (108mm)

Things to note, it looks like it's a 2023 bat made for him – presumably the 19th he was given that season, which would add up to the fact it has the late 2023 stickers issued for the World Cup. Profile wise it's a full profile, huge throughout and would really push a bat gauge. There's also a stamp on the rear of the handle with the initials AH, the maker or an identifier for GM?

It's a got a handle which I'm presuming he's shaped himself, with the twine removed from the top half and then tape applied to the bottom half to make it incredibly oval, if not moving towards a triangular shape with it sharp at the back end.

Wow. What a great bat. Interesting handle set-up.

I’ve had a few of Scott Borthwick’s bats and they had exactly the same handle setup. Wonder if he copied off him?

2 lb 9 oz? Ben Stokes should hit the gym.  :D

@Tom , can you re-post and resize  the photos? They are huge.

I believe Scott Borthwick actually got given some bats from Stokes in the past - at least I saw one which he had handed in at B3 for repair or replication. (Was a while ago - I think I took some snaps of it - might try dig them out at some point!)

Look great now, thanks!

How does it play? Have you tried to hit some balls with it?
