Nah, if someone wants traditional pads they can get similar ones from Newbery or SS. But it seemed kind of pointless to be sponsoring a player to use other pads. I got them made up for Roy as he only wanted standard looking pads and sausage gloves.

It's can assure you it's a Mongoose bat, supplied by Mongoose yes. I think it does have a mini-splice in though or maybe a full one. He's a big guy so uses long blade.

Just a bit different from what I've seen before Tom, full splice i think it had and looked a different shape but obviously custom to his spec. The ball disappeared a long long way off the bat.

Yeh, Roy sent me one of his old bats which went off to be copied. Didn't see the copied bats, but he definitely is using them hence the flashy new stickers.

Not this one, it has gone back to him. However I'll see what happens at the end of the tournament although any old pro's bats I have first refusal on. Looking at building up a nice collection on the office wall.

What is wrong with the ones you make shape wise, if it has a splice and longer blade and different shape surely it defeats the point of paying him?

We custom make bats for the public. We can also produce long blade bats. Can be ordered through our website.

Players can be incredibly picky and dealing with their requests, trying to understand what they want in their bat when you've never done a bat for them previously whilst there the other side of the world isn't the easiest thing.

Sales, press coverage and interest would indicate the decision to sponsor both of these players has been the correct one regardless of your thoughts.

you can not argue with that to be honest even my little boy wants one.

in 25 years of watching cricket i have never seen so much of one company kit on telly being shown as much

it was the mongoose show think there moving into the big time

to be honest you see new company normally sponsoring bowlers at first class level but i think mongoose crushed a few people presumption today (even mine).

you can not fault there marketing it was a dream for them and as the saying goes "every goose has it days"

i suspect they might be having a few more of them

without doubt moving in the right way to joining the big boys
