Is it a Magnum or Laver you guys decide!!!!
« on: April 02, 2010, 07:54:22 PM »

Hi guys,
I got my Magnum/Laver yesterday afternoon and have been doing a little enovation on it!! I spoke to James laver yesterday but just before i recieved it from royal mail at 4 in the afternoon, so i will speak to James next week to see what he thinks!!! So have look lads and have your say!! It was alittle strange as in places the fearnley stickers were over the fiber glass tape, and if it is a laver why sticker it up as a Fearnley.

Yeah its nice, I have to speak to James Laver next week as he is making a bat for one of our disabled players who is a Laver nut and i have got him to do it for near cost price so i will try and twist his arm for a set of stickers for it. But having never seen a laver close up i could not tell you either way if it is or not!! I defer to your knowledge.

yes mate the way the string goes over the shoulders ala laver style and the high shoulders combined with lamitoe and carbo core it is a laver no doubt.

i refurb my laver and asked james and the other bloke there for stickers they asked me for a picture of the bat and bobs your uncle.

looks a bargain bud does it ping ok

Well i have not put a mallet on it yet with full fury as it was very dry and i don't think it had seen any light or use in years, As whe trying to remove the stickers it started lifting wood. So careful does it and a day sanding down, i have just given it its first coat of linseed another one or two next week, but when i did put the mallet to it it will be a ball destroyer the mallet just bounsed of it like it was made of steel!! I think it is at least 5 or 6 years old though maybe more it must be one of Jame's first carbo core bats. Though maybe someone on the forum knows different andthe twine is so tight and in perfect alinement i thought it was a plastic shield at first

like i said i would bet my last pound on the bat nobody does shoulders like laver and nobody covers that low down on them as well.

i know andy at saf has a few mike might be able to help and also petehosk and rich watson will be able to spot the bat

Have just had an E mail from Big Jim Laver and procricket was right all along!!!  It is Definitely a Laver made by James Laver some new new stickers are being sent on as we speak, and what a bargain a virtually unused Laver and wood bat for £53.00 as it had no cherry marks or anything or anything anywhere. And a big thank you procricket etc for letting the cat out of the bag on it being a laver as it is lush!!!
