call me synical but I doubt a 13 year old is gonna make many waves in the cricket world, either that or you are hanging on the coat tails if your Dads idea.

And yes he is 13, here is the link to that other forum that he doesn't use!

Let's not write him off :)

Tom was young when he started and look where he is now :)

Thought Tom set up Itias at 17, but had been making bats since 13?

I'm pretty sure that you are wrong there, I don't think Tom has ever claimed to be a bat maker, maybe just a case of the magazine feature playing up his involvement with Fusion et al. He set up his own brand at 17, that part is right.

Oh ok, so does he actually make bats or just handle the background stuff?

Wrong, Tom claimed he was the youngest bat maker in the world.  I do believe on his website, I think he made a couple of bats but never really got anywhere, it was just a marketing ploy.

I did a few bats in India, finished a bit at Fusion then a few at home. Was never anything major and the magazine talked it up a little more than I would have liked! Although I set out to do it with good intention, I soon realised that I wasn't all that fun and that I could source bats for only a tenner more than I was paying for part-mades. I still 'made' a few for mates and the like though.

Never have claimed to be the youngest in the world though as I'm sure there's some 4yr olds carving out bats on the streets of Mumbai and J&K.

Doubt it - i believe jon newberys apprentices started at a young age, probably 16 or so. Lots of young lads straight out of school would have gone to work as batmakers in the factories 20/30 years ago, it's more unusual nowadays though.

Did either of these brands end up becoming reality?
