Time to call it a day?

Made a very worrying start to the season today, my keeping is really struggling. Admitidly the wicket was a low bounce no carry one, but my feet wern't moving. hands were tight, and subsequently i gave 6 byes, dropped a pretty regulation catch, and missed a stumping. I'm starting to feel pressured, and a burden on the team. my keeping has gone downhill in the past season, and am thinking is it worth calling it a day with the gloves?

jasus mate, id pay to have you aver my keeper.... I miss 100 wickets a season cause of him, I'll pay you to come play with me!

bit early to judge id say... give it a couple more games and if you are still struggling, then maybe reconsider

Give it time mate keeping isn't something that's easy to replicate in winter nets so takes a few games to dust off the skills and get used to the pace of things again....I'm sure it will come good with the right mental attitude and some practice again

Stick at it bud it early days yet I usually take 3 games to get settled into uneven bounce and stuff. Remember indoor is usually quite a even bounce and the ball comes on I sure it will come together for you.   Remember a good time a outstanding catch or a leg side stumping mate remember the feeling of good times you will be fine mate

will give it a couple of matches and then see, hope you guys are right, but i just dont physically feel up to it anymore

I'm sort of in the same position, my keeping affected my batting last season after I kept 45 overs.  I'm really not fit enough to open and keep.  This season we've got a few keepers in the first side, and will probably rotate it.  But i'll be opening and concentrate entirely on batting.  It's a tough call, as keeping wicket well can get you up the club sides alone. 

I'd agree with Tom though, it's only the first cricketing weekend in April!  (Friendlies)

I'm a keeper aswell mate. Our season hasn't started just yet but I seem to feel okay. I'd just try and get some stuff done during training.I find keeping's like bowling, you need to have a rhythm. I dropped keeping for a bit and regretted it so much that I was back doing it again after only a month. Just keep working.

dont drop your head dan, 6 byes on a low april wicket when you havn't kept for about 6-7 months aint bad at all. and to be honest if you took every catch and every stumping that came your way you would be playing for england! give it at least half a season to find your form. i started last year with 2 ducks in my first 2 innings and still scored over 1000 runs in all cricket.
