Woodworm Torch - Any one have more info on this bat?
« on: May 12, 2010, 04:34:46 AM »

So I was gifted a used Woodworm Torch bat today. The cousin who passed it on to me, got it from a friend, who once upon a time played cricket in england to whom this bat was gifted from some pro. ESSENTIALLY - i have no idea where this bat came from.

From what i remember - the woodworm bats of old used to be a lot thicker. i don't remember the torch having such a classic english shape - i think theres a few owners on this forum who can comment?  The 12 straight grains and the pick up on the bat are impressive though. My guess is it's about a 2'8.

i hung up a ball in a sock and did a quick and dirty ping test - this bat was up there with both my BAS & Newbery. Will be interesting to see how it performs in the nets.

Enjoy the pics.

I had two of them a few years back. They looked pretty similar, and the profile's were slightly different since one was an ounce or two lighter. Maybe the edges are so thin cause it's only 2lb 8oz - mine were 2.10 and 2.11.

They had fairly sizeable and good middles. However, they both split through the toe within a year but then again, so did my next two bats.
