Youth/Small Mens pads sizing and protection

I'm 5'6 and so mens size pads are too big and are uncomfortable, I was looking for small mens size but this seems to massivley limit the choice available. I noticed that youth size is the same price as mens, are these the same level of protection just smaller in size? how do these compare to small mens size?

my youths have identical protection, go for newbery pads as there youth ones are as amazing as there mens!
