Today at our game the opposition team opener had GN ignite Pro Performance. When I looked at his bat it had around 6 grains which were even straight but the face was clean and there were no blemishes whatsoever. There was also a toe crack at toe end and it was his second time using this bat.

My main concern today is that the willow used in that top bat was poor by looking at the grains. He paid around 320 pounds so he surely deserves something better

Has anyone else who has GN experienced this?

i had a gn ignite pro preformance with the same and its by far the best bat iv ever used they dont supply the top bats with tons of grains else they will crack up and die and no one want to pay 320 for that the ignite i used was by fasr the best bat iv ever used

My mate had a GN Ignite PP, and believe it or not it snapped in half horrizontally just below the splice. He also had a Kookabura Ricky Ponting that did the same, this could just be the way he uses his bowling machine though...

This isnt the first bad thing I have heard about GN, A guy at my club has had 2 Powerbow PPs this year, which have been planks, and compare nothing to my Solitaire. He has sold both on eBay, for not a lot either around �130 for each and has lost a lot of money, however he is much happier with the Solitaire.....

i had a powerbow pp made, went like a train for 6-7 matches plus training and then cracked straight down the spine. i sent it back to gn and they said it broke due to overuse, ever scince then ive been using custom and handselected bats and never had a problem.

I don't understand your complaint Cover_Drive, from your description he received a G1 bat and 6 grains is definitely a G1 by willow suppliers and many batmakers grading.

As for the toe crack. Well they happen.

I got myself a nitro carbo not so long ago and have been very impressed with it, although i did think it was the best bat in the shop! and believe me I tried them all!

Unfortunately another post from someone who could do with a little research before posting, top end bats or any bat for that matter wont come as standard. Some have 5 grains some may have 8 some with 10 some with more some straight some not some with clean willow some which are not. Willow is a natural material so all of the above is used in the bat making world and if you care that much then always hand pick your bat.

I'm not a fan of GN at all but one of my best bats was a Millennium i bought from a retailer near me, it was supposed to be a g2 bat and had around 7 grains which were decent but wouldn't win any prizes for looks but the bat in playing terms was superb in every way. I returned it year after year to GN for a full refurb and was pretty sad the day it finally had enough of me.

What I really meant to say that when you are paying around 320 Pounds for a top shelf bat then you expect to recieve something which is brillant. Personally I am big fan of GN as it has been my favourite brand. But when I saw his bat I was somewhat disappointed because cosmetically it wasn't top notch especially for the price he paid. If I pay that amount I would like to recieve something which is close to perfect as perfect cannever be obtained.

As far grains system goes can't a G2/3 have 5-6 grains with blemish free face?

Oh really? Thats peanuts! In Canada even a blind would buy GN PP for that price

Have a Xiphos PP that I picked up in Decathlon when they had priced it up wrong (at �120) a couple of seasons back. It's a big 3lber. Bit too heavy really. Brilliant middle, good for an end of innings swing, but the toe cracked in the nets over the winter and the state isn't improving.

Still, you don't score runs with the toe....

My experience of GN bats up until last season was nothing but positive, I decided to fork out the cash for a GN Powerbow Atomic and have never been so disappointed. 6 grains none of which are straight, misshaped toe, bit of a dead weight pick up, just a poor bat.
Despite the problems I decided to persist with it for a few games and even gave it to the overseas pro to try out in the nets and he was not impressed. Any tips or advice on what I can do with it? Apart from the obvious selling on eBay.

Bought a Solitaire on the back of this, goes like a gun!

Unfortunately you will get the odd bad bat/a bat you don't get on with from every company, just a case of tapping the bat up in the shop and seeing if its any good.

I've had good and bad but in general GN have been pretty good.I was using a Ignite 5 star two seasons ago and that was a decent stick,sold that to a team mate who loved it to bits.I do like GN and would continue to use them in the future and the 2011 stuff looks very good.
