You forgot the obligatory being called gay for playing cricket (... or any other sport which wasn't Football) and the odd kid that turns up wearing his school shirt and fielding in his school shoes.

I work at a very privileged boys school these days - The kids don't know they are born! Sightscreens, Clubhouse, Umpires, Their own kit, Tours, no daisies on the square... Different world! No-one gets 'Gas-Masked' the communal box there!!
Sight screens, no need for those when you have red trees one end and a birch building at the other.
Clubhouse, we were lucky to be let in the sports hall to get changed!
Umpires, we had a science teacher with a lazy eye and a hearing aid, he was the only one who volunteered!
Those of us who played for a club had our own kit, which we had to share as the school budget never stretched to a cricket kit bag.
Tours, we played an away game once when nobody else had booked the ancient minibus, close enough...
Daisies on the square, we didn't even have a square, just a wonky strip of mowed lawn on a football pitch!

I'm starting to think I went to the wrong school!  ;)

Our rector (head master for you Aussies) began to give me sledging quotes from square leg umpire.
He even said to one of their bowlers. Your bowling is a straight as Elton John
In England the said teacher would get sacked for that!

It was a comical moment as the boy involved thought id said it from non striker and kept trying to rattle me haha. I pulled him for four and he started bringing out this boy can't pull, call him a hooker. Sad times  :(

His banter is poor but when you hear it from a teacher that normally tries to make everyone scared of him makes you chuckle!

Yes. Unfortunately it is. In a rugby school, any cricket banter from anyone but me is a breath of freshair!!

It's just how I role  ;) :D if you are lucky Number4. I'll give you some tips!

Yes Tis a private school. But we have none of these privileges . My school use my clubs dodgy wicket. So whenever I'm captain I bowl and let them face the 2 inch bounce .
Not as bad as my best mates school (whom ran me out). They are each given a coffin with their initials and if your bat isn't made in England you are dropped.

Try playing Eton College... Then you'll know what privileged is.

I would tell you, but it would only make me angry.

Who is your Head? Dame Edna!? Worst sledging ever. I thought for a sledge to be considered a sledge in Oz, you have to;

1. Threaten to kill/break/hurt the opposing player.
2. Drop the C-Bomb at any given point during that threat.

Lets be honest... Everyone knows there are only two verified ways (I'm pretty sure it is verified, possibly by the MCC, as they are so widely used...) to sledge in a school game;

1. Insult how poor (Financially/Standards) the other player/school is
2. Insult the other players Mum

Gingerbusiness. Tony Blair's school Fettes, they are the poshest team a posh school can play. They have caterers for the tea and have refreshments provides by Powerade. Haha  :D

My bad for not reading more carefully.

Although there are more native Australians in the Scottish National Team, than true Scotsmen.

Trust me, Eton would see that as a challenge.

Eton play Harrow every year in a game at Lords, and have done for 150 years. And when I say Lords, I don't mean the practice square!

I don't support Scottish cricket as unfortunately it is bias to age, club, district and if you play at the club of the development coach. You can guarantee an academy place. Although I have plenty of time for John blain As he's been coaching me for the past few months and he agrees with me about the setup! Shame ECB don't give us any money :(

I've played some fairly posh schools back in the day, Harrow was only a one-off home fixture I think, sadly. I did however play Repton...

I never had any posh banter though, we knew they were much posher than us and that was that.

Just the cocky little keeper who asks stupid questions like 'Do you blink when you hit the ball'. Hardcore sledging that.
Good memories though, all the same.
