bendy handle - is it going?
« on: July 19, 2010, 01:00:12 PM »

hi
my newbery is going great guns but a teammate pointed out that the handle is really flexing a lot and may need replacing.

a brief attempt at getting some more constructive help fell on deaf ears and they returned to their cheap handled imports and slazengers.

now, the handle is not rigid and there is a fair bit of give when pressed on, and the bat flies, but it's playing on my mind now.

What should I do? If i'm scoring runs with it should I persist until it goes, or return it to where i purchased it for it to be sent back to Newbery to be looked at? (I have sold my other bits of wood and I can't justify outlaying on a stopgap)

Cheers

It is a relatively well documented fact that a bat plays really well when the handle is just about to break or has a just broken for a short period, after which stage you will need to get it replaced.

From your description the handle on the bat has broken, ideally you would have someone local to you who could replace it within a week - otherwise call Newbery asap and see what their turn around time is and get it to them. The likelyhood is you will only be without it for one weekend... It will probably cost in the region of £20-£30
