Would this work?
« on: August 15, 2010, 12:14:06 AM »

As our game was called off today I got thinking.

Would a flat spine work on a bat?

I drew some pictures on paint (:)) and I'm pleased with the profile of the bat lol.
Could anyone shed light on this?

Cheers

i think gn did something along those lines.

It was SP in the mid / late 70s. It was called "The Master" and was used by Tony Grieg and others. It was SP's response to GN's scoop, without infringing GN's registered design or patents. There was one in that shape shown on the L&W site a couple of years ago.

I would love to feel the pick up/have a go with one!

I always wandered whether it might work to have 2 spines

I am aware that drawing is terrible, but hope people get my point.

I am not thinking of making this, just wander what it would play like if a bat had the 2 ridged spines, just to try something different/innovative (The new mongoose :P )

A company called Lords based in Caerphilly, Wales do all of there bats with a flat spine.

Look rather nice, shame about there stickers, just shows the nice profile of the bat up..

Surely a "double spine" just creates a scoop in the back like the GN Scoop but with more pronounced edges to the scoop bit?

It would be something similar to this.

I just think it wouldn't work, the bat wouldn't feel well balanced and I'd imagine it would pick up like a log!
