I am considering having a net set up in my back garden, for me and my brother, i have done a bit of saving and got a job, and done a little research and i have come up with this, i would you comment on your views and opinions and any advice you may have.
I have chosen this 10m net:

and my dad says that dig out and have a concrete base put in and then put the normal net matting over the top, like the astro turf sort of stuff.

the net will be used purely for a bowling machine net for batting practice,

does anyone have any advice or any info about things i should consider

If you can find a hockey pitch having it's astro relayed, you can get the turf for free!

if you are going to use a bowling machine, make sure you are near enough to the house for the power.

Try putting the net as far away from a tree as possible as cleaning leaves or bird shhh is a pain in the neck - it will also make laying the concrete easier

I've got a net in the backgarden and my advice is that they get better with use, so dint e afraid to break them in. Also they require a lot of time to cut etc so make sure you've got the time on your hands becuase being 14 I've got the whole school holiday so it's relatively easy for me

Most nets are aggregate based , if using concrete you would need a cushioning pad underneath astro, also a special tarmac has been used before

what kinda surface to go on the concrete do you think is best. Because im not sure what surface would work

can you point me in the direction of the type of padding i would need under the astro

I have nets in my garden....we have a concrete base with a mat on top.....which works perfectly with the bowling mach as well as normal bowling too.

No experience but try this or searching for shocpad for concrete base

Make sure you get the concrete base absolutely flat

Our club got some idiot who must have thought he was laying a cattle shed floor 

Mind you I can get lift like Harmison off a good length

anyone found any shock absorbing mat/pads for concrete nets? still looking for some

I think warsop do some decent matting for nets
