Broken Pads
« on: August 26, 2010, 10:15:53 AM »

Hello,
I snapped two of the buckles off my Redback allegiance pads playing six a side diving.
Anyone have any advice on what to do?

Cheers Lee x

They might still be within warranty, you should ring up and ask; or at least, that's what I would do.

Worth speaking to Gary.  I snapped a buckle on mine a while back - may have been a duff batch.  Haven't had any problem with the 2010 ones though.

we had a few issues with the plastic buckles on the pads a while back when we tested ours...may depend who makes the softs as we pointed it out as an area requiring improvement....in terms of the broken buckles though unless u sew a new set back on its difficult to remedy!

yeah its a tricky one to deal with mate as when diving at full length its obviously added extra stress to the pads buckles if they were under strain....could find an old set of pads and perform a transplant between the old ones and new ones if you know anyone whos handy with a needle??

i would recommend i little bit of elastic looped through where the buckle bit was and tied into a small knot which never comes undone, works a treat!

I watched them test the buckles at Sondhi, very impressive strength shown by theirs, I'd think however that you have broken them through heavy use rather than material failure and I'd be surprised if Gary would entertain the idea of replacing the pads. Best biting the bullet and buying some new ones.
