Doe anyone have any experience with Fearnely bats?

DO they really justify the £300+ price tag?

The first cricket box was used in 1874.  The first cricket helmet was introduced in 1974. So, it took 100 years for men to twig that their brains were also worth protecting.

My first UK made English willow bat was a Fearnley (probably 20 years back) and it amazing. I just fell in love with my game and batting in particular for the 3 years it lasted.

But I feel £300 is a bit too excessive considering the art and skill of bat making is more widely spread and there are too many quality batmakers like Newbery, LaverWood, Julian etc

Even at £300 it is not a custom, just off-the-shelf!!!

Are Fearnely bats still made in the UK or ...

willlow prices seem to be going up and up if i had 300 to spend on a bat(i dont)
i would look at Warsop, top of the range for 220,or get myself down to the county ground at hove and ask john newcombe to help choose me one.Newbery still make great bats.
I'm sure many pro's use their bats and stick puma or whatever over the top.....
my personal favourite thou is Salix, customer service is a bit hit and miss, but they are a manufacturer rather than a shop so we need to bear that in mind.

John got the boot last year.....

Fearnley make some there, but most are imported, also worth noting that every bat is half price is you visit the factory....

Bugger!! Was going to stop in the factory yesterday as I drove through Worcester, however I was with the mrs so probably a good job, I doubt she'd have wanted to hear me tell her how I need another bat!

I made the mistake of going in to see Hunts when near with the wife, I had a bat made for me while I waited and was late to look at a pony.... bad times.

yeah Fearnley do make bats in this country, but not all of them.

the top grades are still done there. others are imported from india or pakistan.

i met Duncan Fearnley at Lords recently, what a legend...

consider looking at Solitaire bats who are in Worcester too.

A mate of mine recently met with Duncan and somehow managed to persuade him to make him a bat.
I don't know if this bat use's the same wood or if it's the same profile as the ones on the net, but what I can say is that it is an absolute beauty of a bat. Although no better than my Blue Room which at £100 cheaper than top of the range Fearnley is far more reasonable priced.

Don't buy a Solitaire unless you want a bat of 2'11 or more, Roger doesn't do light bats, but his bats do go like a rocket.
