i was there in the pavilion, andrew batted very well but i have to say i didnt see any exceptional hitting tbh, nothing like what i was expecting from the goose - RHB hit it just as hard and as far with his addidas

Gareth used to open the batting and bowling for England U16, he was sponsored by GN then and everyone had high hopes of him carrying on at that level but he has done well recently after a quiet time with Worcestershire since being released by Somerset.

Looking past the bats for the moment, Alex there's a slight difference in quality between the 2. One is a number 9 bowler who scored his first ltd overs 50 only last week, the other is an opening batsman and captain.

my thoughts exactly. I do think he is better than a number 9 though, but not as talented as rhb, it would be interesting to see rhb with the goose or andrews with the adidas to see the results!

Agree with Talisman though, there is definitely a lot of potential in Gareth and we're very fortunate to have him using the Mongoose range.

It was a great innings by Gareth and whilst it showcased the MMi3 brilliantly it would be unfair to put it all down to the bat.

He was always thought of as a future star, sometimes people develop later than expected. He is a lot better than a no9, as is Broad.

Bats are tricky beasts, maybe he owes the entire innings to the Mongoose, maybe he would have got a double century with any other bat, we will never know.

not saying it wasnt a good innings, i was just expecting to see the ball go a little further as it were. obviously RHB is a better batsman than Andrews but even Tremlett hit it about as far roughly. it was certainly fun to watch, i just didnt see anything that andrews most likely couldnt have done with a normal bat. his mongoose did sound very nice though

not the best, seeing surrey get hammered then start on track but be doomed to failure once davies,rhb,ramps and kp are out is quite frustrating cos spriegel,walters and co are (No Swearing Please) useless!

The Tremlett and Andrew innings were completely different, one was a fun quick slog in a dead game and the other was proper cricket shots to build a huge total. Lets remember that Gareth Andrew came in at almost exactly the same position as Walters did for Surrey. Played sensibly to reach 50 off 41 balls and then powered on to 100 in only 17 more.

The Andrews innings was good value, as was the commentary from Mark Church on the innings - he was loving the "loose goose"!

The oval is one of the largest playing surfaces in England and all of Andrews sixes cleared it with ease. Maybe he could have hit the ball further but that might have compromised the timing of the shot or made him loose his shape which could easily mean his mis hit or even missed the ball. You don't get any more runs for hitting the ball 20 rows back than you do for it only just reaching.
