LAUNCH OF BAT REPAIR WEBSITE
« on: September 02, 2010, 09:31:30 AM »

Hi Fellow Forumonians,

Today is the launch of www.batrepairs.com which offers all cricketers fixed price repairs for all makes and models of cricket bats.

We don't just fix bats, we give bats the Rolls Royce treatment.

Go to the site and have a poke around and if you have a busted bat, i'm your man!

Drop me a line and let me know your thoughts.

Many thanks,

Batrepairs

Do you have any pictures of work you have done, And will you be offering a cheaper service? As others on this forum do a better price and most bat companies do as well.

I think Talisman asked you this yesterday what is your background?

No one really wants to send a bat off for repair to anyone even if they have a website!  :o

hi folks,

i've been working in the cricket trade for 3 years now and have developed specialist knowledge in bat manufacturing, soft goods and all other types of cricket equipment.

all the leading manufacturers in this country and some of the leading manufacturers in india are personal and business colleagues.

the launch of the bat repairs website is to formalise a business that has been running all season long at my cricket club Richmond in London.

the price i offer is a flat fee for all repairs, and include full refurbishment in all cases.

so if you need a new handle, a split toe repairing and a refurb you'll struggle to get that done for £35 plus carriage.

if you have any other comments feel free to call me on the number on the website.

many thanks

I think there are 3 issues.
Firstly having a new member who just comes on and expects people to send you their pride and joy bat for refurb/repair! You haven't been involved in any topics or dscussions....just straight on and then expect people to trust you?  ???

Secondly, nobody knows what your bat repair experience is. It is a skill to repair and refurb bats! Unfortunately for you, there are lots of us who know quite a bit about batmaking, refurbs and everything in between. People have had goes at making their own bats and are more knowledgable that your average cricket forum! In fact, there are lots of very established bat repairers and refurb people...which brings me onto the final point......

Lastly your prices are higher than everyone elses! That together with the other repair people already showing that they are capable and trustworthy doesn't help you fella.

Sorry to sound a little hard on you, but the questions are being asked for good reasons and to give you the opportunity to tell us about youself.

in reply to the 3 issues.

i don't expect people to just trust me, i'll earn that from doing a good job, so if it looks a bit immediate my apologies for that.

my repairs are not done by me, but by professional bat makers in the UK, i've been lucky through my work to establish relationships with these people who have offered me the opportunity to do business with them.

i work in the cricket trade, and know how important it is to have a good reputation and am also aware of what is good and bad in bat making, i'll only prove i have knowledge through continuing to contribute to posts on this forum and making myself more known to you guys.

regards the price, you're right you can get a split toe repaired for £7.50 or so, but can you get a new handle, split toe, and a full refurb for £35?  maybe from a mate who repairs bats, but any repairer looking to make a profit will charge £50 plus for all that.

the proof of the pudding is in the eating, so lets see how it goes.

your comments are appreciated and expected....

Yeah i think if you have a totally battered bat its a good option, maybe not for the one or two little things needing doing, but then we'll see i'm sure.

Thanks for quick reply, look forward to hearing from you again!

My view is that for a full repair/rehandle etc it might be a decent option, but just for an end of season service type refurb, that the price is too expensive.

So your saying its not worth sending you a bat with a split toe or a cracked shoulder or other small repairs then as you say it can be done cheaper elsewhere as you will charge £35.
The only time to send to you is if you need a rehandle and a couple of other repairs at the same time

you could look at it that way i suppose.

we don't just repair any cracks and send it back though, all bats get treated to full refurbishment included in the repair.

if you smash the bumper off your car, the car repairers don't just put a shiny new bumper on and get you to pick it up, they give it a full valet and make it look brand new.

this is what we do with cricket bats...

ummmm most bat makers do a full refurb after the repair as the bat will just look a bit stupid with just a certain section sanded
